The CER has today 28th July 2016, published a modification to the Criteria Document for the Regulation of Gas Installers in Ireland. This modification provides clarity to industry with regards to the scheme entry requirements and outlines the phased removal of the GIS and GID qualification as a method of scheme entry. The CER has, to date, accepted as part of the entry requirement to join the RGI scheme the successful completion of a Gas Installer Safety (GIS) and Gas Installer Domestic (GID) qualification. The Domestic Gas Safety (DGS) qualification is an amalgamation of the GIS and GID and as such will be now be accepted by the CER as a replacement for the GIS and GID as the entry route to become an RGI (in addition to the other scheme entry requirements).
