FAQs

Who do I approach to gain access to Inch Storage Facility?

You must contact Kinsale Energy Limited, who is obliged under their licence to provide third party access to the storage facility.

Is access to the storage facility regulated by the CER?

The CER has put a number of conditions in the Storage licence to ensure that access is non-discriminatory and that it operates in a safe manner. The CER however does not regulate the price charged by Kinsale Energy Limited for access to the facility. Any party wishing to use the facility must sign up to the Inch Administration Agreement, which outlines the terms and conditions of a commercial agreement

How much gas can be stored in the Inch Storage Facility?

The total capacity of the Inch storage field is 7 billion cubic feet. Gas can be injected into the storage facility on an interruptible basis during the summer months when demand for gas is at its lowest. Customers may then extract gas from the storage facility and deliver it onto the on-shore system during the winter months when demand is at its peak. The maximum level of extraction from the facility is 4.3 GWh per day.
