Distribution Network Codes
The Distribution Code defines the technical aspects of the working relationship between ESB Networks as the Distribution System Operator (DSO) and all users of the distribution system.
The purpose of the code is to ensure an efficient, co-ordinated and economical system for electricity distribution.
The Distribution Code has been prepared by ESB under the terms of the Electricity Regulation Act, 1999 and was approved by the CER in March 2000.
ESB Networks, under its DSO licence, is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the Distribution Code Review Panel (DCRP). This is a standing body constituted to generally review and discuss the Distribution Code, its workings and suggestions for amendments to the Code. All modifications and updates need to be approved by CER.
